.), Results and Metrics tabs in OSA and Eyemodes when Channel Analyzer and metrics are enabled;" Chart window size and position;" Settings of Iteration Selector and Advanced Iteration Selector;" Inputs selected with the Input Selector. The Analyzer settings related to data appearance (the properties listed above) can bechanged using themes.A VPI theme is included with the software during installation, andyou can create your own theme using the Theme Editor described below. The remaining sections provide details on saving Analyzer settings at three differentlevels: Universe, Star and Galaxy.236 VPItransmissionMaker"!/VPIcomponentMaker"!Analyzer SettingsTheme EditorThe Theme Editor is available from the menu via Tools > Theme Editor and allows you toedit the data presentation settings, store them as a theme and apply pre-saved themes tothe selected chart(s).The Theme Editor window has two tabs:1.The Settings tab (shown in Figure 7-21) shows a list of objects in the Category pane andprovides access to various properties which can be edited and previewed in Previewpane.Figure 7-21 Theme Editor (Settings tab)The current settings of the active chart can be loaded into the Theme Editor andadjusted as desired by selecting the Current Settings command from the Theme Editormenu. To edit a pre-saved theme, apply it to a chart via View > Themes and then load it intothe Theme Editor using the Current Settings command.2.After all required changes are made to the theme, it can be saved using the Save buttonon the Save tab shown in Figure 7-22.User s Manual 237Chapter 7 VPIphotonicsAnalyzerFigure 7-22 Theme Editor (Save tab)The commands in the Apply Theme > submenu applies the theme currently loaded in theTheme Editor to the entire VPIphotonicsAnalyzer application window, the active window orthe active chart.UniverseAfter simulation finishes and the VPIphotonicsAnalyzer window opens, you can adjust themethod of data analysis and the style of data representation by changing the Analyzersettings.Note that the schematic may contain three types of modules that can invoke theAnalyzer module interfaces SignalAnalyzer, NumericalAnalyzer1D, 2D and 3D,modules that have internal visualizers (such as UniversalFiber or DopedFiber), andgalaxies containing any of the aforementioned modules. The settings of the analyzersproduced by these modules can be adjusted, stored and then reused during the followingruns of the schematic.Analyzer settings are stored by applying the Save or Save Allcommands from the File menu. The settings are stored in a file named.vpa located in the Outputsfolder of the design package.238 VPItransmissionMaker"!/VPIcomponentMaker"!Analyzer SettingsNote: Saving or renaming the schematic or the galaxy with the Save Asor Rename commands will automatically rename any associated analyzersettings files. This ensures that the analyzer settings will also be applied tothe renamed schematic or galaxy. If you do not wish to apply the settings, the.vpa file should be deleted or renamed.StarAfter settings for an analyzer have been saved, they can be copied for use in anotherschematic or galaxy (or reused in the current schematic). This can be done by copying andpasting the corresponding module instance. If the module instance is copied to a schematicwhich already has its own.vpa settings file, the settings of the module will be added to that.vpa file.If the schematic has no.vpa file, the file will be created and will contain only thesettings of the copied module.GalaxyAnalyzer settings can also be saved for the galaxy which contains the module interfacesSignalAnalyzer, NumericalAnalyzer1D, 2D and 3D and/or modules that have internalvisualizers. To do this, run the schematic which contains the galaxy. After simulation finishes and theVPIphotonicsAnalyzer window opens, save the settings of the galaxy analyzer(s) via theSave or Save All commands.Note that this method saves the settings of the entire schematic, not only the galaxy (settings are stored in the Outputs folder of the schematic, in a file named.vpa).To save galaxy settings, use the Set Settings as Default commandfrom the VPItransmissionMaker shortcut menu.Settings for the galaxy are stored in a filenamed.vpa in the Outputs folder of the galaxy package. The settings of the galaxy can be overridden by the settings of the schematic. For example, run a schematic which contains a galaxy with analyzer settings. After theVPIphotonicsAnalyzer window opens, change and save the galaxy analyzer settings. On the next runs of the schematic, these last settings will be used, not the original settingsof the galaxy. To restore galaxy settings, select Restore Settings from the shortcut menu ofthe galaxy.User s Manual 239Chapter 7
